Roman Holiday

LG-2Ever been to a toga party? I went to a couple during my college years   . . .  fun events, even if a little bit crazy sometimes. None of those parties back then can hold a candle to the fun party I attended this week.

My good friend and writing partner, Lynne Gentry, launched her new book HEALER OF CARTHAGE. This is the story of a twenty-first century doctor who falls through a time portal and pops out in third century Rome on a slave block where she’s about to be sold to a unsavory man of ill intent.

If that’s not bad enough, while she works to maneuver out of that incident, Carthage is barreling toward a massive plague that will require Dr. Lisbeth Hastings to put everything on the line.

This story is not for the woman who prefers a gentle read in a quiet bubble bath. Nope . . . this one’s for the gal who longs for high adventure (and a tale kissed with a touch of hunky Roman romance!)

Anyway, back to the party. This one was crowded and filled with excitement. Readers had been patiently waiting for the big release date and when the day finally arrived, the lines wound through the store like a lion whip. After being greeted at the door by a Roman centurion, guests met Lynne and got their book signed, then tasted honey sesame cookies and mulled wine served by a beautiful young handmaiden.

What a fun party! So wish I could’ve joined you ladies. :) If I could drop through a time portal, I’d love to see this TN land back before the Civil War days. There are so many derelict plantations around here–old graveyards and crumbling stone fences–and I think it would be fascinating to see it at the height of its grandeur.

Congratulations to Lynne on a fabulous, over-the-top release party — such ideas can only come from a fun and creative mind. Which speaks volumes for the book!

Ladies, if you love adventure, history, and romance, don’t miss this one!

Where would I like to find myself in time? Being a fan of westerns, I think I’d be an early-day photographer, facing to photograph the natural wonders of the west before the onslaught of civilizations changed them forever. Imagine being the first one to photograph Yellowstone, or Yosemite! What a magnificent adventure that would be!

I have known Lynne Gentry for over 20 years. Her book does not surprise me that she is a talented and invigorating writer. Her book keeps you wanting to read more to see what is going to happen next.

If you love romance and adventure, don’t wait another minute to order Lynne’s new book, Healer of Carthage. You won’t regret it at all.

    Congratulations Lynne!!!

What a great story concept! So glad he launch party was a success.

I’ve already checked the book out on Amazon. Congrats Lynne!!

If i fell through a time portal… Hmm… I don’t know I’d want to go back in time but IF I did it would be to Jesus’s time on earth. Move over Mary of Bethany…

    Love,
    Rachel

Read the prequel and now reading the book. Lynne I am amazed at the imagination and the excitement of the story. Many unexpected turns and it keeps my attention. Savoring each chapter. Can’t wait to see where Lisbeth is headed.

This book needs to come with a warning. “Do not start until you fix a few meals and tell your family not to bother you until it’s finished.” This is a page-turner that will make you turn your back on modern times until the final page, and then you want more!!!

    Ooohhh….If I could be transported into a time portal….

There are very few “happy” times in history when you think about it. I think my time period would be contingent on choosing my circumstances. I’d like to be in the court of Queen Elizabeth I and watch her maneuver her way through the politics of the day as a strong woman who refused to marry because it would weaken her position.

I love this book by my dear friend, Lynne! What a page-turner…the only negative at all is that I have to wait til the second book comes out to see what happens next! Please hurry! Congrats my friend!

Time travel for me…I’d have to say Civil War era! Love stories about that era!

I LOVED this book and Lyn was a very entertaining guest on ATS LIVE! Win, win all around. Time travel? Pre-Civil War would tied the Wild West for me! :)
