Merry Christmas! Our loved ones have gathered here at our home and we are tucked around the fire, opening gifts and laughing. The turkey is in the oven, sweet potatoes are boiling in the pot, and yeast dough is rising. This year, we celebrate the many blessings we have been given, most importantly a belief in the power of love, forgiveness, and God.
But as I surround myself with those who matter most to me in this world, I know not everyone is feeling loved today. Holidays sometimes deliver a painful, lonely day of suffering.
To anyone who is feeling sad or alone or unloved, I offer this hope to you: You are loved, more deeply and unconditionally than you can even imagine. You are never alone, as God is with you always. You are here for a reason, and your life is important to more people than you will ever realize. You are worthy of great love and a deep peace. You are capable of making others feel loved and delivering joy and blessings beyond measure to someone who is hurting even more than you. And you have us, your Southern Belles, thinking of you and praying for you and sending you warm Christmas wishes this holiday seasons.
Peace and goodwill to all.
