It Was Christmas 1935

Well, I figured  y’all heard my story about getting engaged to the Hubster. Three years, long wait, he said, she said… yeah, right, I thought it’d ring a bell.

I decided to post a video of my 98 year old Grandma at Christmas time, telling us how she got engaged. My voice is REALLY loud, so wince in the beginning. Her voice is really soft which is why mine is really loud!

She’ll be 99 in May! A bit tired but going strong. Love her!

How wonderful and dear, Rachel! 1935!!!!! I always adored hearing my grandparents tell their love stories. They are all gone now, but this takes me back. God bless your sweet, precious grandmother!

Rachel! So sweet! This is one of the things I beg people to do when I’m out talking about books and stories — record the older folks telling the family stories. We never know how long we have to do that. Bless you for taking the time to get Grandma on tape and for sharing it with us. Love, love, LOVE!

Love this so much, Rachel. I’m so thankful for the video and audio recordings I have of my grands, and I keep finding myself writing about their era…I think on some level, it brings them back to me. What a beautiful recording of your sweet grandmother. I want to hear more! Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful lady, precious words! Thank you for sharing her with us, Rachel. I didn’t record any of my grandparents and I’ve kicked myself about that more than once!
