I Saw Uncle Si Kissing Mrs. Christine!

It has taken a supreme effort not to share this sooner, but I’ve finally been given the green light. A couple weeks ago now, your Friday Belle was honored to attend the marriage renewal vows of Duck Dynasty’s Uncle Si and his beloved Mrs. Christine.

My friend and I arrived early and skipped to the gate like a couple of giddy teenagers. Security awaited. My and Jenny’s excitement was only slightly tempered when we were asked to sign temporary “hush-hush” statements but let me be honest, the “no smart phones” rule cramped our style. (That translates into no picture taking, so social media, no posting, no smoke signals. Nada.)

The gag order was tough but I managed to keep it all close to my chest until we got word that the news was out and we could chat it up ’til the cows came home.

It was a wonderful evening, y’all, a great big white tent and chandeliers type of affair where guests were treated to fine food and a touching display of enduring love. Celebrities Kix Brooks and Kirk Cameron “attended” via a large screen video screen to give Uncle Si and Christine warm wishes for many more happy years together.

We were also blessed to hear the performance of some original songs during the ceremony. And this week, when news of the vow renewals hit the airwaves with an article and pictures in US Weekly, the announcement coincided with the release of a brand new CD featuring those very tunes!

You can find Si Robertson: Me and My Smokin Hot Honey on Itunes right now https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/si-robertson-me-my-smokin/id876492487 with hard copies to be released May 25th. I love this music! It is slammed with great tunes and super lyrics that should take it straight to the TOP. My friend Marsha Robertson (Uncle SI’s daughter-in-law) makes her singing debut with Jay Nelson, who happens to be the son-in-law of another dear friend Chrys Shackelford Howard, (Korie Roberston’s mom). Marsha and Jay’s duet “Would You Marry Me Again” is literally worth the price of the album! And you’ll love Uncle Si teaming with Kix Brooks on “Can’t Take the Swamp Outta the Man”

But, there’s even more family in this musical love affair! Ashley Howard Nelson (Jay’s wife and Korie’s sister) wrote several of the songs and she co-produced the album. And because there is simply no lack of talent in this family, Jay and Ashley’s daughters (Chrys’ granddaughters) also sing on it. I suspect we’ll be hearing a lot more from Macy and Ally.

Marsha and her husband, Scott, were on my radio program this past Monday, which happened to be the day before the album was released and we were able to play several of the songs for the very first time on air.

To say I was blessed is an understatement. You can see the video of Marsha and Scott’s visit to ATS LIVE here, and you can hear the audio podcast here.

And here’s where this gets fun for y’all!

Because Marsha is a super doll and a give-a-way type of person, I have permission to give away a copy of this great new album, Si Robertson: Me and My Smokin Hot Honey right here on Southern Belleview today!  To enter, just leave a comment below and share this post on your favorite social media site. How easy is that? On your mark, get set, go.

Okay, I love this. Shellie Charlene, can I have your autograph???

(But I do wonder why you weren’t asked to sing on the album too!)

Love those Duck Dynasty folks. Makes me feel right at home.

I very much enjoyed reading of your experience attending the ceremony. It gives me hope for America that people like the Robertsons have such a following. Thanks Shellie!

Thanks for your enjoyable post, Shellie!!

Loving and thankful that America has embraced one of the few positive role model families on TV today – so wish we had more like them!! I was recently inspired by Missy Robertson’s testimony at a Women of Faith conference, and just downloaded info on the church bible studies by Chyrs and Korie!! I enjoy their shows – my favorite part is always the blessing at the end of each show. I purchased their devotionals and DVD’s for Christmas gifts. Thanks for the pictures, my first glimpse of Christine.

I shared the contest and post on Facebook

Shellie, I love this post for many reasons, but mostly because when you’ve been blessed with a mouth like yours, it’s a sin to keep it quiet.
Love you and hope to talk soon!
