On the Road Again

I’m on the road again from Savannah to Kansas City.

The Wedding Dress won Romantic Times Inspirational Novel of the Year so I’m in KC for the convention.

Love the Belles’ post this week about reclaiming our childhood. I wish I had time to think of what I’d do. So instead, I give you this lovely scene.

If I Had Been a Pinterest Mom… (from Lisa Wingate)

Happy Monday Everyone!  It’s a Pinterest celebration this week here on Southern BelleView! We’ve brought our favorite pins to the porch to share, to enjoy, to talk about.  It wasn’t hard for me to decide which of my Pinterest boards to visit for a subject.  Even though our toy boxes are gathering dust and the mini tractors around here have gone silent, I love looking at kid-fun projects that I coulda-woulda-shoulda done… if only I’d been a Pinterest Mom!

The Pinterest Mom’s Lament

by Lisa Wingate

I’m certain I’ve been deprived, not having arrived,

at motherhood in the days Pinterest,

Back when my hoard, complained “We’re bored!”,

It was hard to find things of interest.

Now, look at it all, available on a wall!

Kid projects, kid fun, kid cooking!

Just a click or two, there’s so much to do,

For any mom who’s looking.

Why didn’t I, think of pop bottles to fly?

Doesn’t this look like fun?

Or roads indoors, why not cover the floors?

When days are more rain than sun?

Want them to read? Let these take the lead.

Their very own bookworms, what a winner!

Now here’s a good start, for those who love art.

Why throw out the box, after dinner?

And remember pipe cleaners, was there anything neater?

Why wasn’t I this wise?

And now suddenly I’m itchin’ to go raid the kitchen,

And make bubbles in Super Giant Size!

I imagine the noise, of bubbles and boys,

But, alas, this pin looks true:

The ruckus is gone.  The babies have moved on.

So what’s a mom to do?

It happens, I know. You blink and they grow.

You’re left remembering when.

Toys, we’ve got.  But boys we have not.

These boys have grown into men.

Just in case you still have little boys (or girls) around, here’s the link to a “Boys and Critters” page with many fun, fascinating kid-friendly pins… which (unfortunately) has links to many more pages with many more kid-friendly pins… which will lead you to more pages, and more links…

Which, if you’re not careful, will keep you busy looking at ideas until after the kids are grown.

Don’t forget to actually do the things and enjoy ;o)

Play Date in Manhattan

photo-4

Downtown, Ground Zero. At the South Tower MemorialRecently hubby and I spent a weekend in NY with good friends. We flew up for a ministry weekend but there’s always room for play. And it was our 21st anniversary!

We traveled on our anniversary and spent the next day in Manhattan. It was cold but amazingly fun.

To your left is a pic of the south tower memorial. We subwayed down to Ground Zero after an amazing Brazilian lunch.

Then we at some delish pastries and saw Cinderella at the Broadway Theater.

Perfect for writing fairytales right now.

We laughed a lot.

Played Euchre.

Ate some more. Real NY style pizza.

Had an amazing weekend with our NY church family. Wow, His presence was so strong and tangible.

That is the most fun for hubs and me.

Playing Euchre and laughing

We laughed, laughed, laughed. It was a requirement for the weekend.

Connecting hearts, sharing the love of the Lord with those we will be with forever.

This life is just a taste of the goodness and JOY to come.
